About Us
The Family Lawyers Association is made up of solicitors and barristers who practice in the area of family law and at present has hundreds of members spread throughout Ireland. Associate membership is available to other professional persons whose work is connected with family law. The Association has been in existence for over twenty years and has served the dual function of promoting contact between family lawyers and fostering a greater level of knowledge and information in regard to family law.
At its annual meeting in November 2006 the Association adopted a new Constitution and revamped its structures so that it could carry out its work more efficiently. The activities of the Association are mainly in the following areas:
-
The making of submissions and representations both at national and EU level where changes in family law are contemplated or required.
-
The holding of meetings and seminars to promote greater knowledge and understanding of various aspects of family law.
-
The maintenance of this website, as a means of communication with the public and its members and as a research base in regard to the many different areas of family law.
-
The provision of a panel of experts in family law who are available to the media to analyse or comment upon matters of public interest which involve family law.
-
The organisation of social events and functions to promote greater contact and understanding between those who work in the area of family law.
